Date Night at Bottle & Bond Kitchen And Bar

You walk in with the smell of the distillery still in the air. Across the room is a beautiful moss-filled wall with Bardstown Bourbon Company thoughtfully placed across (a popular spot for a photo). At first glance, you feel transported - like on a little vacation. The decor is hip but warm. The walls of bourbon bottles behind the bar is a showstopper and you may have a hard time taking your eyes off of the perfectly placed bottles on the lit wall. One by one, carefully, as a piece of art.

Make sure you have reservations (especially for Valentine’s Day), but if you forgot, no worries because it is quite an experience sitting at the bar. In comfortable, green leather seats you may not want to leave. After you order your first drink you may decide to stay. We have had the experience of ordering a few different drinks off the menu, but my favorite I had most recently. The old fashioned is delicious, as well as the manhattan, but something that I have never had before anywhere was the Wabbit. Yes, a colorful name that made me laugh, I tried it and felt transported. Not only is it gorgeous and made me feel a bit Mad Mennish, but it even smelled delicious. The sage leaf was unexpected and just the right touch. It was a bright, beautiful color due to the splash of carrot juice and the added sweetness, but it was such the perfect balance of sweet and sour and you could taste the bourbon shining through. What a way to start the evening. Then with an order of roasted Brussel sprouts, my night could’ve ended right then. They were served in an iron skillet - sizzling and bit crispy on the edges. Covered in bits of creamy bleu cheese and balsamic vinegar and bits of thick pieces of bacon. I became enamored with every perfect, salty, creamy bite. Next came the shrimp and grits which were incredibly tasty and then an artful tray of charcuterie. With a delightful assortment of meats and cheese, and this night was just getting started.

As we made our way to the table with the charcuterie in-hand, we decided to order yet another order of Brussel sprouts. Why not? Wedge salads were then brough out. Perfectly drowned in bleu cheese dressing, candied pecans, and bacon. The perfect combination. Then we placed our orders of steaks, fish tacos, and ribs. The ribs were reported sweet and spicy, and the steaks were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had tried several things on the menu before and wanted to branch out this evening. Also, I wanted something a little lighter after the incredible appetizers, and the fish tacos were recommended earlier in the night, by the helpful bartenders. That was my choice and they were the perfect ending. Light and crispy and the ahi tuna was perfect. There was a slight spice with sauce that was drizzled on. If I was hungry, though I would have ordered the steak because that is the best thing I have gotten in combination of flavor and portion; unless you order the fried chicken which is also incredible. Because we eat our wieight in the appetizers we usually never have room for the boozy milkshakes, but people all around have them brought to their table. At this point in the evening I am just wanting to unbutton my pants. I am full and happy, but if I wasn’t’ I would try a milkshake. Believe me, I would if I could.
