This is Halloween — Living Etown

Halloween is finding the Pinterest-perfect costume and realizing it looks nothing like that perfect photo, watching a YouTube video to figure out how to get the stinkin’ face paint to look right on your kid’s face, listening half the night to whining about how some part of the costume is itchy, taking photos that are not ever Instagram ready, and then all of sudden watching your precious babies say “thank you” after they get candy without being reminded, and then thinking how cute they are right after they handed you their wig to hold for the rest of the night that they threw a fit in the middle of Target for for about 20 minutes.

So why do we do it? For their Reese’s of course ;-)

No, really, why do we do it? Truly?

I think we truly do it beacause it’s fun! It’s fun to watch our kids bravely walk up and ring that door bell for a chance at a yummy treat, it’s fun to make memories together and always hold those in our hearts and minds to pull from when we need them, it’s fun to walk around with friends and family and make traditions, it’s fun to take photos and videos that we will look back on and laugh and maybe even cry one day as we remember that one night, and one costume, and one instant where we watch our children run around in their care-free costume as joy shines through their eyes and everything feels just right for that one perfectly, pure moment.
